WE like STELLA for Windows (although it runs a little slow on a slow PC if you don't run in a very small window) and Z26, which runs super smooth even on sluggish machines and is frequently updated. There's also STELLA X, which has a slick interface to the STELLA core.
And now you have a REASON to buy a GamePark 32 handheld system... you can play emulated Atari 2600 games via Fabrizio Zavagli's "VCS32", which is a brilliant piece of work.

| Stella X | Jeff Miller | Outdated. |
| PC Atari | John Dullea | Homepage is gone, we're not sure this is being supported anymore. |
| Z26 | John Saeger | The official Atari 2600 emulator of Digital Press. |
| MESS | Ben Bruscella | ONLY PARTIAL EMULATION: Not quite there yet with the 2600. MESS is anything but! It's a great emulator built from the MAME engine that can handle many different console and computer emulation. |
| VCS32 (executable) | Fabrizio Zavagli | This is software for the Game Park 32 handheld... that's right, PORTABLE Atari 2600 power at last! You need a GP32, a smart media card, THIS software, and some games. Read the .txt file for instructions. |
